Tire Repair in Oklahoma City, OK

A flat with a nail or screw in the middle of the tread can often be repaired instead of replaced. A puncture in the shoulder or sidewall cannot. Oklahoma City Tire Shop in Oklahoma City can look at the tire. Call first and describe where the object went in.

Where the hole is decides everything. A puncture in the center of the tread face is a repair candidate. One in the shoulder or sidewall is not, because that part of the tire flexes too much for any repair to hold.

If the tire is flat, stop driving on it. A few hundred yards on a deflated tire can destroy the inner sidewall. After that, even a fixable hole means a tire that has to be replaced.

Is a plug from the outside a real repair?

A string plug pushed in from the tread side seals the hole, but nobody has looked at the inside of the tire. A proper repair comes with the tire off the wheel, a check of the inner liner for damage, and a seal applied from the inside.

When you get a quote, ask which of those two methods it covers. The price gap usually reflects the extra work of dismounting and inspecting the tire.

Which flats go straight to replacement?

Some damage ends the conversation before it starts.

  • Any puncture in the sidewall or the shoulder where tread turns into sidewall
  • A tire that was driven flat, even briefly
  • A bulge or blister anywhere on the casing
  • A slit or tear, as opposed to a small round puncture
  • A new hole very close to an earlier repair

What helps before you bring it in?

Note which tire it is and where the object entered. A phone photo of the tread helps. If the vehicle has a spare, fit it rather than limping on the flat.

The shop is at 1444 SW 25th St in Oklahoma City and runs Mon–Fri 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Sat 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Sun 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Phone with the tire size from the sidewall and ask whether it can be looked at that day.

Can you fix a puncture in the sidewall?

No. The sidewall flexes constantly and a repair there will not hold safely. Replacement is the answer, and the tire size on the sidewall tells the shop what you need.

My tire keeps losing air but I can't find a nail. What now?

The leak may be at the valve stem or where the tire seals against the wheel rim rather than in the tread. A shop can check the tire and wheel for the source before anything gets replaced.

Is it worth repairing an old tire?

Only if the rest of the tire is sound. If the tread is nearly gone or the rubber is cracked, putting money into a repair makes little sense and replacement is the better spend.
